Job Title : Transportation Services Manager
Location : Onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA (1332 Edgewood Rd SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404)
Job Schedule : The Transportation Services Manager will work a rotating schedule of 3 days on, 2 days off, followed by 2 days on, and 3 days off, resulting in every other weekend off. We have both 2nd and 3rd shifts available:
For the 2nd shift, you will work from 1:00 PM to 11:30 PM on weekdays with a 30-minute lunch break, and from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on weekends with a 1-hour lunch break.
For the 3rd shift, you will work from 9:30 PM to 8:00 AM with a 30-minute lunch break, and from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM on weekends with a 1-hour lunch break.
Job Summary : The Transportation Services Manager will perform all aspects of customer service, including order creation, service alert notifications, communication, and appointment scheduling. They will handle inbound phone calls, emails, and forms from our customers, driving partners, and third-party carriers. The manager will act as a liaison between the customer, driver, and internal departments responsible for follow-through of execution for loads while ensuring high utilization and profitability. They will ensure drivers adhere to applicable transport regulations (e.g., hours of service compliance).
Day in the Job Preview : As a Transportation Services Manager, you'll work directly with customers and drivers to identify solutions, proactively resolve shipment issues, build business relationships, and drive revenue through freight bidding and rate negotiation. We are looking for individuals who focus on the driver's experience and customer satisfaction and thrive in spaces where they need to collaborate across departments to solve problems and create new solutions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
Work directly with customers to identify solutions that meet their specific needs.
Proactively facilitate problem resolution with shipments at risk or not meeting customer requirements.
Build effective business relationships with customers, drivers, and partner carriers.
Act as a liaison between the customer, driver, and internal departments responsible for follow-through of execution.
Develop and execute strategies to maximize fleet utilization and account profitability.
Drive revenue by bidding on freight, and create margin by negotiating rates with partner carriers.
Job Requirements :
Successful completion of a CRST background check and drug screen is required.
High school diploma or GED is required.
A four-year degree OR applicable transportation experience with demonstrated success is required.
Ideal Experience & Skillset :
Transportation and dispatch experience.
Computer skills (Outlook, Microsoft Office, and McLeod).
Self-starter with strong attention to detail and decision-making abilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to handle stressful situations and make confident decisions.
Strong logistical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
